State Representative Lesia Liss is serving her first term in the Michigan House of Representatives representing the 28th District, which covers parts of Warren and Centerline.
Born on August 11, 1966, Lesia Batschynsky was raised in South Warren. She attended and graduated from Charles S. Mott High School. She went on to attend Henry Ford Community College, where she acquired her Associate’s Degree in Science-Nursing. She started her career with Henry Ford Health system soon thereafter as a Registered Nurse. She met the man who became her husband, Mark Liss, in 1992, and married in 1993.
Wishing to further her education, Liss enrolled at the University of Michigan - Dearborn, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic Studies. She is fluent in Spanish and Ukrainian.

Looking for a way to further serve the public interest, she ran for State Representative in 2008 and won. She continues her involvement in nursing issues, as well as issues of public health and safety.
In the House, Liss is working to reduce partisan conflict, and volunteered to be the Democratic co-chair of the Bipartisan Freshman Caucus for this term. She is also co-chair of the Michigan Premature Caucus (March of Dimes), member of the Disability, Fire, and Women’s Caucuses, the EMS Coordinating Committee, and as the Speaker's representative to Human Services and Welfare Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures.
